Digital Citizenship: Work Ethically
You are encouraged to comment and respond to your peers' ideas anytime, however at times you will be assigned to provide peer-feedback according to the following criteria:
Suggested Prompts For Your Peer Comments:
- Comments must be constructive criticism: Providing feedback about areas for improvement without criticizing.
- There are 3 stages to your peer comments: Compliments, Suggestions, Connections (all 3 are required)
- Be clear and thorough. For example, not "This could be more interesting," but instead: "A description of your personal experience would help me understand and connect with your opinion."
- Make specific connections, such as from class material, or even better, to a video, article or link beyond the class.
- Must be clear, appropriate, edited writing.
Suggested Prompts For Your Peer Comments:
- "My favourite part was.............. because................" Quote a phrase or image or paraphrase ideas that spoke to you
- "A suggestion I have for improvement is............." Consider the ideas themselves or depth of discussion. Consider the level of explanation, use of specifics, use of style, voice, content and clarity
- "While reading your blog post, it reminded me of ........... (include a specific link)...because................." Be concrete, share a tweet, an article, a video, a quote, an image, something from the outside world that contributes and adds to the ideas being developed
- Is there evidence that your peer has deepened their understanding of the content being discussed?
- Did you find anything problematic about their arguments or interpretations?
- Do you have any questions? Share your question, continue the conversation.
- How have they contributed to your deepening understanding of the content or process. Let them know.
